This is where you should come if you want to discover the history, traditions and art of the region. Covering an area of 1000m2, you will be amazed, original objects, models, reconstructions will immerse you in the AU-THEN-TIC Gruyère.
Leaving this museum, you will learn all about the balance between town and country, including cattle breeding, the evolution of regional industry, and culture.

You think the regional museums are a little too monotonous and all say the same thing then we have what you need!
This museum will give you a contemporary look at the region through the works on display.
A permanent space will offer you an immersive experience in the Chartreuse de Valsainte, a famous monastery located on the heights of Cerniat.
This museum is best known for its Viviane Fontaine International Paper Triennial, which has been held since 1993.
The building is a chalet from the 1600s and is built with original materials from the former “Platzhaus” in Jaun.

We could not tell you about the museums without mentioning one of those you absolutely must visit during your stay in our House.
La Maison du Gruyère is a cheese dairy, artisanal of course, in which you will discover the production of "Le Gruyère AOP" cheese and many other things.
During your visit, you will learn everything about this famous and fabulous cheese, from its history, know-how, to the stages of manufacture, the maturing periods, the requirement of the specifications... you will know everything without exception!
The visit lasts 30 to 45 minutes, is done with headphones and is accompanied by the cow named "Cerise", all in 13 languages!!

Crowned the most beautiful village in French-speaking Switzerland in 2014, the charming Gruyères at the foot of the Prélpes will invite you to its various museums (the museum and the bar of the artist H.R. GIGER, the Tibet Museum and the Maison du Gruyère) its castle. You can also enjoy its traditional restaurants with regional dishes.
Take advantage of being in the region to relive your childhood and visit this legendary chocolate factory.
At the edge of the mountains, you will find this white facade and you will believe yourself in a film, does it remind you of anything?
Leaving this museum you will know all about the chocolate making of this world famous House and you will end up with a sweet hot chocolate in their cafe.
The chocolate factory is open every day but the hours fluctuate according to the seasons. Of course, it is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Considered by some to be the most beautiful artificial lake in Switzerland, it is fed by the Sarine.
The small island of Ogoz located to the north of the lake is home to a chapel which escaped the rising waters after the construction of the dam.
You can get there by pedalo, boat, sailboat, kayak or paddleboard!
Here are the attractions of Lake Gruyères, summer activities and a fabulous landscape with the Pre-Alps in the background.
In summer, parking costing around CHF 5 depending on where you park is payable for the whole day. In any case, you can leave and return to the area without worries with your ticket.
Perched at an altitude of 2002m, it is accessible 365 days a year and for all audiences.
We advise you to climb it at least once to enjoy the incredible panorama from this point of view.
A host of activities for young and old are organized so that you can spend an entirely incredible day :)
Of course, restaurants are on site at different altitudes in case you get a bit peckish during the ascent or descent.

A little bit of sport
Who says lake and mountains, necessarily says cycling tourism or sports holidays! During your stay, you will have the possibility of, for example, doing a small/medium or even a large tour of the lake by bike, the distance will be chosen according to the level but also the motivation of the D-Day. You will take the opportunity at the same time to contemplate the marvelous landscapes that so many people envy us.
Of course when we find ourselves close to the mountain, we think of hikes for all types of audiences, alone, with family, with friends, from 7 to 77 years old. You will be able to choose the difficulty according to your desires for the day. We also advise you to stop in an alpine refreshment bar for lunch;) Have a good trip!!
Agritourism
There is the heart of Gruyère, its reliefs, its cows, its good milk, its wonderful double cream with meringue etc. You will have the opportunity to discover how all this is made by going to visit and participate in the manufacture of some of these products as with our recommendations below.
Fin du Chêne 39, 1652 Botterens
Not far from Bulle, we invite you to go, from February to October, to visit this farm which opens its doors during the goat milking from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A real opportunity to disconnect a little from our daily lives and a pleasure for children. All year round, you will also have the opportunity to buy farm products to bring back a gastronomic souvenir of our beautiful region.

Reception and sale at the Four de l'Adde from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On the other side of the lake, in Cerniat, André Isenegger, this extraordinary baker, has concocted a gourmet and exciting program that will delight young and old alike.
He built a bread oven near an old farmhouse and this is where your day will begin.
You will start with a general presentation and you will participate in the production of natural sourdough bread, from kneading to shaping and putting in the oven, you will do everything.
All the ingredients that you will use and that he uses for his bread are natural and organic, and you will learn a lot about that.
On the other hand, no time to lose, while the bread rises, figasses, pizzas, and other delicious pies will be made. You will taste them during dinner… Yum!
And then, to finish, everyone will leave with their bread made during the day and a recipe book.
Pssst: Don't forget your kitchen apron and indoor shoes for cold weather.
The activity will start at 3 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. We will look forward to your stories when you return to the hotel.

This is possible from May 5 to August 27, 2022, Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
It is the Biland family who will welcome you to this alpine chalet where you can watch the production of the cheese. During this morning you will be immersed in the manufacturing process of the products that are the pride of our area, such as Gruyère AOP or Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP. During this visit, you will also have the opportunity to see the cellars and the place where these little marvels are made.
In case the visit has given you a little peckish, you will be able to eat a local dish at the Buvette which bears the same name as the cheese dairy located in the beautiful Gros Mont valley.
